I have a varied work history, allowing me to offer a variety of professional services, based on what I have enjoyed most in my career.
I was employed for 14 years with a small engineering, design, and construction management firm. As the firm is small, I was fortunate to be involved in all aspects of planning, engineering, permitting and environmental documentation, and project management. My main areas of focus were project scoping, public involvement, site control, environmental documentation, and regulatory permitting. I designed and implemented a permit tracking system to improve permit compliance.
During graduate school I was a research associate for a firm conducting socio-cultural research in Alaska's North Slope communities. The research was used for Environmental Impact Statements, Environmental Assessments, and studies on the impact of oil development on these communities.
I also have over 30 years experience managing small businesses including producing accountant-ready bookkeeping, licensing and insurance needs, and general business organization.
I am an Alaskan; I was born and raised in the small town of Cordova, as was my mother.
Through my life, work, studies and enjoyment of reading, I have a thorough understanding of the geography, politics, cultures, and history of Alaska.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations; I have a Master of Arts degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in Northern Studies with an emphasis in Political Science.
